European funding has been instrumental to the creation of 54 St James Street, a flagship facility for women in business. We’ve been reflecting on this support as the European Regional Development Fund launches a video celebrating the success of our facility.

Developed as part of the ‘WICED’ project, 54 St James Street is a Women’s International Centre for Economic Development. A global first. To find out more about our WICED roots, click here.

Since development in 2010, 54 St James Street has helped to create over 1,000 new businesses, created over 2,000 new jobs and been home to over 200 businesses in the Liverpool City Region. All thanks to £2.4 million in funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

This funding injection enabled us to build the business centre you see here today.

Maggie O’Carroll, CEO of The Women’s Organisation, says: “Without that investment, without that support and without that strategic alignment, we simply wouldn’t have this initiative”.
